Safeword Improv
Safeword is an improv troupe in Baltimore, MD, founded in March 2008 for the Washington Improv Theater’s Fighting Improv Smackdown Tournament (FIST), an improv tournament that pits teams of 3 against each other in 15 minute matches. After winning its first two matches, Safeword lost a close one and returned home to Baltimore.
Since the tournament, the gang decided to stick together and keep doing shows, performing occasionally with the Baltimore Improv Group and in July 2008 at the Baltimore Improv Festival.
In November of 2008, the gang took the show on the road and headed to Philadelphia for a show at the Philly Improv Festival.
